About the Congress
Vancouver Island University is excited to host the 19th World Leisure Congress.
Under the theme “Leisure is Life: Pathways to Collective Well-Being,” the Congress will bring together the global leisure community to explore how leisure can contribute to collective well-being, stronger communities, and more inclusive and sustainable futures.
Hosted on Vancouver Island, the 2028 Congress will provide an international platform for knowledge exchange, dialogue, and collaboration, connecting researchers, practitioners, professionals, students, and organizations from around the world.
A range of pre-Congress activities is also being planned. The World Leisure Field and Industry Engagement and Learning activities are tentatively planned prior to the official Congress dates. These dates and program details are still in development, with further information to follow.
