World Leisure Journal Call for New Editorial Board Members
The World Leisure Journal is looking to fill a number of Editorial Board positions.
World Leisure Journal (WLJ) , the official journal of the World Leisure Organization, is aiming to stimulate a broad discussion of critical leisure research and theory in all its guises. The journal is aligned with the principles of the World Leisure Organization, and is dedicated to furthering our understanding of the benefits of leisure; advancing the quality of life, health, and well-being of individuals, communities, and nations; encouraging social inclusion and promoting social justice through leisure. WLJ welcomes submissions from multiple areas of study that reflect the diversity of ways in which leisure can be conceptualised and approached, and we encourage submissions that bring different cultural views and Indigenous ways of knowing, knowledge, and perspectives.
Criteria
Applications from all scholars working within the broad field of leisure studies, cutting across disciplinary boundaries are welcomed. However, aligned with the principles above, those who meet any of the following criteria are particularly encouraged to apply:
- From historically under-represented groups within academia (Black, Indigenous, people of colour, LGBTQIA+, disabled)
- Resident in Africa, Latin America, Middle East, Eastern Europe or Asia
- PhD student or early career researcher (with some publishing/peer review experience) *
- Quantitative expertise
* Support for PhD students/early career researchers, in the form of a training/induction session or similar will be provided.
Expectations
Editorial Board members are expected to review 2-3 articles per year and attend at least 2 Board meetings (online). Successful applicants will be invited to join the Board in October 2024, and be able to attend the first Board meeting on 6 November 2024.
