The World Leisure Organization (WLO) proudly presented the Danilo Santos de Miranda Award to UNESCO during the 18th World Leisure Congress in Breda, the Netherlands.
This prestigious recognition honored UNESCO’s outstanding and enduring contributions to culture and education as transformative forces that enhance quality of life worldwide. It also reflected WLO’s shared commitment to social justice, cross-cultural understanding, sustainability, and inclusive development.
The Award was conferred at a special ceremony on August 28th, 2025, where a Mr. Gustavo Merino, Director from Division for Social Policies at UNESCO received this distinction before a global audience of leisure and tourism professionals, scholars, and community leaders.
