Throughout the world there has been an increasing sensitivity to the importance effective and sustainable leisure programming. Despite the forces of globalization, there remains the need to respect cultural diversity, which in itself can be a special strength in the creation of leisure amenities and the mounting of leisure programs. By drawing upon an international force of leisure professionals, World Leisure is in a unique position to assist agencies and organizations, public and private, with the creation of leisure services and facilities which best balance global and local circumstances. Thus, World Leisure Professional Services offers a service to help achieve such ends, within the context of World Leisure goals generally.

   
Objectives
  1. To bring together the professional resources of World Leisure with public and private sector organizations and agencies to assist in the development and enhancement of the full range of leisure services.
  2. To achieve the foregoing from international and cultural diverse perspectives.
  3. To create opportunities for World Leisure members to volunteer their professional expertise at the international level.
   
WPS Services

The WPS program is designed to provide such services as the following:
  1. Planning: Master plans; park, amenity and staff planning; fund raising.
  2. Applied Research: Market research, special area/topical studies.
  3. Training: Board orientation; management and staff training; volunteer development; marketing strategies.
  4. Evaluation: Programs, staff, and amenity analyses.
   
Accessing WPS

WPS is uniquely qualified to plan, organize, implement, and provide consultation for the delivery of recreation, leisure, park, and tourism services. The professionals which make up WPS have diverse and strong backgrounds in the area of leadership, management, planning, design and programming of leisure, recreation and tourism services. WPS can organize planning, research, training and related consulting services in a way that is convenient for your organization. Costs vary depending upon the type of program or service requested. In response to inquiries, we will prepare a workplan which details the costs, time and research methods required to complete the work for your organization. We will also secure a local WPS contact or representative to assist you and your organization.

Contracts

No project shall proceed without a contract bearing the signatures of the authorized officers of the client agency or organization, together with those of the WPS Director and the World Leisure Secretary General. The values, traditions, standards, etc. of the organization must not be contrary to those of World Leisure. The provisions of each contract shall include but not be limited to the following:
  1. The expected project outcomes.
  2. The major elements and features of the project.
  3. A critical path for project implementation, including target completion date.
  4. Management and staffing requirements, including contractual arrangements.
  5. Project budget, including direct and indirect costs (normally as a percentage of direct costs) of WPS Office and World Leisure Secretariat.
  6. Provision for insurance against loss and liability for all personnel associated with the project and World Leisure generally.
