Open Call for Researchers Posted on May 17th, 2013
Institue of Leisure Studies (Bilbao, Spain)New opportunities to join the research team of the Institute of Leisure Studies at the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain).
The Institute of Leisure Studies is located in Bilbao, Spain and has offered postgraduate studies and conducted research in the field of leisure (culture, tourism, sport and recreation) for over 25 years. In recognition of the work carried out during these years, it have been awarded the status of official research team by the Basque Government to study leisure as a factor of human development. This acknowledgement has made the Institute eligible for two different calls launched by Ikerbasque, Basque Foundation for Science, which gives it the opportunity to recruit a renowned expert on leisure (culture, tourism, sport and recreation) with international experience. The calls are:
1. The Research Professors Call 2013 (open till 30 September) offeres 10 permanent positions for senior researchers to the Research Institutions in Basque Country, including the research group on "Leisure and Human Development".
2. The Research Fellows Call 2013 (open till 30 June) offers 25 contracts (5 years) for researchers wishing to come to the Research Institutions in Basque Country, including the research group on "Leisure and Human Development".
Support letter from the PI of the host institution/department/group is mandatory.
Research Fellows in their 4th year can apply for the Ikerbasque Research Professor call to be eligible for a permanent position.

9th Annual International Conference on Tourism Posted on March 8th, 2013
Call for Papers and ParticipationThe Tourism Research Unit of the Athens Insititute for Education and Research (ATINER) organizes its 9th Annual International Conference on Tourism, 10-13 June 2013, Athens, Greece.
The registration fee is €300 (euros), covering access to all sessions, two lunches, coffee breaks and conference material. Special arrangements will be made with a local luxury hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized: A Greek night of entertainment with dinner, a special one-day cruise in the Greek islands, an archaeological tour of Athens and a one-day visit to Delphi. The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars, researchers and students from all areas of Tourism. Areas of interest include (but are not confined to):

Presentation and papers are published in a book of abstracts, in ATINER"s conference paper series, and in an edited book.

11th Bienniel ANZALS Conference Posted on February 20th, 2013
The 11th Bieniel ANZALS Conference will held held at Monash University, Peninsula Campus in Melbourne Australia from 4-6 December 2013. The theme of the conference is "Understanding leisure in a complex world: Promoting Critical Leisure Studies". The ANZALS Conference will provide an opportunity for delegates to explore how leisure fits among the range of significant global issues and to propose how leisure can contribute to challenges our society is facing.
The conference will include keynote presentations, workshops and a variety of oral presentations held in themed sessions. The main themes are Leisure and health, Educating through leisure, Leisure and social change and Leisure, enviornment and sustainability. Papers are invited that fit with any of the conference themes and papers not aligned with these themes will also be considered. There is also scope to submit proposals for themed sessions covering any topic related to leisure, recreation, tourism, travel, hospitality, events and/or sport. Abstracts are due by 24 May 2013 and themed session proposals are due by 29 March 2013.

Chair World Leisure Organization’s Board of Directors~ Call for Expressions of Interest Posted on January 17th, 2013
The World Leisure Organization seeks nominations and applications of individuals to serve as the Chair of its Board of Directors. As the presiding officer of the organization, the Chair is responsible for executing official meetings, ensuring that the activities of the organization are in accordance with its strategy, its policies and procedures and helping to raise the global profile of the organization and its programs. In what is a voluntary position, the Chair serves as primary general ambassador for the World Leisure Organization.
